Unit 13 is about teaching pronunciation and phonology. The chapter focuses on the areas of intonation, stress, rhythm, and IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet). The teachers often neglect those aspects of English language, but they are very important for the accuracy and clarity of a speech. Actually, intonation carries a message by itself in a sentence. For example, the falling intonation at the end of a sentence means that you have finished what you want to say. In this sense, stress indicates the word that bears the principal emphasis in a sentence and right rhythm makes a speech natural. Also, the IPA is the best tool for being able to pronounce by itself each word in the dictionary.
