I took note of the confusions that may arise with future tenses as I completed the right unit. Indeed these many future tenses can easily confuse a student into believing minute differences are invisible. Although the distinctions might not always be clear, there are obvious differences that should be thoroughly taught to the students. The tense that stood out the most was the ?going to? future tense. It is an unusual word combination and might be confused with the present continuous tense. However, there is a clear difference where the ?going to? tense mainly refers to intentions and the ?present continuous? tense has clear points. Meanwhile, confusion can rise with the ?future? and ?present? continuous tense. Although both refer to planned events; however, the ?future continuous? tense talks about a prediction that happens in the future. It is important to indicate these subtle differences and convey clear examples to minimize potential student confusion.
