This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 10 was one of the best so far. Getting to see two very different teacher approaches and attitudes and being able to compare was very useful!
The first video had the teacher behaving very distantly from the students by not smiling, laughing or even getting to know their names. He constantly intimidated the students by saying how simple everything is which makes it even more embarrassing if a student males a mistake. He didn't give clear instruction and even brushed off a question because he couldn't understand the student.
I was glad to see the same man in the second video because the first one was painful to watch, so it is good to know he can be a good teacher too. He immediately began with a big smile and at least took some time to ask for his students names and make them feel comfortable. He encouraged a lot of student talk, frequently used pair work, wrote out the vocabulary they were using, used gestures and mimes and picures, and he even lead with examples for the students.
Overall, there is no competition as to which video provided a much better learning atmosphere and structure for the students. Video 2 wins.
