Reading and listening skills are equality very important. Reading may be slightly easier since the dialogue is captured on paper and students have the opportunity to read several times. Listening on the other hand may be more of a challenge. It is important to create interest for the students and go over any words/language that the students may not be familiar with prior to presenting the text/dialogue. It is also important to choose material that is of interest to the students. Get to know the students' interest. Also choose a wide variety of material to cater to majority of the students.This unit showed how to teach reading and listening effectively. Although this unit focused more on the receptive skills, reading and listening, the productive skills, speaking and writing, are equally as important. It's important to incorporate all of these skills into a lesson in order to give a well balanced and integrated lesson. This unit also specified the differences in how we read and listen. Examples of how we read and listen are for a purpose or for entertainment. The unit also provides valuable worksheets that could be used in the classroom or as an example for other worksheets.
