This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Pronunciation could arguably be the most overlooked part of English teaching. Although it is equally as important as all other areas of speech. Students will stress that this is a main area of concern when learning the English Language. Many approaches can be taken when being taught, as well as learning. A very great source for this area would be the use of the phonetic symbols chart. Used for the sound of pronunciation in English grammar as apposed to focusing just on spelling. Although spelling is a key aspect, the accurate way to pronounce is very important to students. We can use mouth diagrams, observe the way our mouth move, and what areas are used while speaking. We can focus on areas such as stress, in certain syllables. Also the intonation of how we rise/fall, or fall/rise to dictate how we are feeling while saying a sentence. A thorough observation of diagrams in all these areas will by key to understanding.
