In this unit, we discussed the broad spectrum of groups a teacher might encounter. There are five categories which range from beginners, one to one lessons, young learners, business English and monolingual or multilingual classes. One of the most important things to do to be able to meet your student needs or requirements is to be clear when speaking, alway use English when teaching, fair, prepared and motivate your student by getting their attention thru enjoyable activities or topic. These apply to all the categories listed above; however, some things must be done differently for each category as well. For example, for beginners, you want to make sure to use a lot of visual activities and games. While in a Business English class you want to get to know your student's needs and company requirements as well as us a lot of conversation activities related to their jobs and teach formal writing. While it is important to keep the record of all, you do with all the categories. It is a requirement to do this for business English because some companies will ask to see their employees records.
