Past tense is quite similar to that of present tense with one main difference which is their relationship to time periods. Present tense time period refers to what is happening in the present whereas past tense time period refers to past time periods. The four tenses to be taught relating to past tense include: Past Simple; Past Continuous; Past Perfect and Past Perfect Continuous. Teaching Past tense through a variety of games will enable the student to grasp an understanding of when and how to use past tense in language and identify the difference between present tense and past tense language.
