This unit provided a nice example of a lesson plan and helped explain the process that results in an introductory LP. Personally, I think there should have been a section on backward planning. This kind of process helps change the perspective from teaching to learning, which initially might sound like the same thing, actually results in an entirely different plan. The shift towards learning means we take focus away from the teacher and place it on the student to ensure that learning has taken place. This is in contrast to ensuring teaching has taken place, which of course it has. Backwards planning focuses on deciding what we need students to know and how we will know they have achieved it, then creating instructional activities that will get us there.
