This unit focuses on the importance of productive skills, i.e; writing and speaking. These skills are of equal importance to receptive skills and together form the basis of a solid understanding and usage of a language, and allow students to communicate in the new language, which is most often the primary goal of learning a new language. The unit teaches the importance of engaging the students in a fun and creative environment, to give them the confidence to speak and write in their new language. The unit provides guidelines on how to generate the interest and confidence required to master the productive skills, as a lack of confidence in the their ability is common factor in students being unwilling to practice their new skills in a real-world environment.
