This unit talks about the how to teach new vocabulary.It talks about what students need to know about vocabulary items. The Vocabulary selected should be-Appropriate to the child's level, It should be frequently used. The child should know the meaning of the word,should know how and when to use it. The word should selected should be teachable. Then they talked about the different ways of teaching the vocabulary.The engage, activate and study phases. In the engage phase the word can be shown through pictures,mime or action,discussions etc,In the activate phase, the word can be reinforced through fill in gaps, crossword,word search etc.And in the study phase there can be a debate or group discussion to reinforce the new vocabulary. THen the unit talked about the typical ESA patchwork and the Boomerang ESA methods of teaching vocabulary and their phases.
