This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 13 was very difficult but very informative. Teaching how to teach pronunciation without any audio input makes things particularly difficult. Phonology is the study, science, analysis and classification of the physical properties of sounds. We covered intonation, the variation in volume and pitch in a sentence. This can be taught using Nonsense Words, Humming and on the Blackboard. The stress of a word in a sentence can change the whole meaning of the sentence. The phonemic alphabet for me was extremely difficult and I am going to download the recommended material for further study. Articulation covers the actual physical way in which sounds are made. Overall a fascinating unit that I will be reviewing again and again.
