This unit discusses the role and importance of evaluation and testing throughout the learning process. Evaluation and testing is designed to bolster student learning while in the classroom as well as prepare students for their future endeavors. Some standard tests include placement tests, diagnostic tests, progress tests, and practice tests (to prepare for external exams). Teachers are tasked with monitoring student progress throughout the course, regardless of whatever other formal means of evaluation they choose to use. There are numerous external examinations that students may wish to prepare and sit for, depending on their personal and professional objectives. These various tests require various levels of competencies, and some are designed to test more specialized vocabulary, such as that of business.
