There are a number of types of assessments that should be conducted with your class. A placement test tells you and the student how much they know and allows you to place students in groups at similar levels. Diagnostic tests are smilier in that they tell you and the student what they do and do not know. This helps the teacher form future lessons and gives them insight into what the students will need extra help with. Progress tests should be conducted regularly to see the progress of the students. These test can be done informally and as a group. Achievements tests should be done at the end of the course to see the overall progress off the students by the end of the course. External exams are likely to be given to the students. To help prepare for these tests, the teacher can give practice tests. These will help the students prepare and let them know what areas of study they need to focus on.
