Pronunciation is considered as the most difficult part for beginner students, especially for the students who have spoken their native languages fluently and begin to learn English very late. Maybe they can learn grammar, writing and reading very well, but pronunciation is a very difficult part to improve, which make learner feel unconfident to speak in English.
What's more , pronunciation is usually neglected by teachers, because it's pretty difficult to teach, so having some good techniques for teaching is necessary. Firstly, teacher can use teacher's mouth as a model, which allow students to see as closely as possible exactly what teacher's mouth is doing. For example , teacher can use this way to teach the difference between word \"thank\"&\"sank\".
Secondly, Drawing a diagram of mouth showing how a particular sound is made is easy for students to access the standard pronunciation. Lastly, we can use Tongue twister as a game to practice they learned during class.
Some rules are important for students to know like which are normally unstressed, so they can speak naturally. Firstly, students have to know that only the vital syllables in the words conveying the essential information are stressed. What's more, Auxiliary verbs like \"be\"\"have\", Articles like \"a\"\"an\" and Pronouns and prepositions are normally unstressed.
I really learned a lot of very useful skills in teaching pronunciation, which will be helpful in my class.
