This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
The focus for this unit was upon teaching the productive skills of speaking and writing. A part of the lesson dealt with discussing the differences of fluency and accuracy and which parts of a lesson would be used to develop each skill. The Study phase is primarily for developing accuracy and the Activate phase is primarily for fluency. In the video, three main types of activities were mentioned, controlled, guided, and creative. Controlled activities occur during the Study phase and use a high level of structure. Guided activities will occur in either the Study or Activate phase and use less structure. The creative activities occur during the Activate phase and have a small amount of structure. Lessons were prepared for teaching both a speaking lesson, as well as, a writing lesson.
