This unit is about the teaching equipment. There are many materials the teacher can use to make his lesson. The choice of the equipment depends on the teacher?s goal and the lesson?s point. Much visual equipment such as videos, CDs and DVDs, etc. are useful to make the students familiar with authentic pronunciation and with authentic life of an Anglo-Saxon country (through movie sequences for instance). Using different materials in class is important because it will attract the attention of the students and doesn?t make the lesson monotonous as the traditional method (writing on the board).
I think that the OHP or computers are helpful to cut down the time necessary for writing on the board, but I still believe that sometimes, especially in grammar lessons, the time the teacher writes on the board allows the students to think about the language point. Sometimes writing on the board can be considered as reflexion moments.
