It was interesting to read that writing is often overlooked in the TEFL world, because I've had the exact opposite experience, although I see very little creative writing. It seems to me that when using productive skills, a great focus must be put on creating a comfortable, confident, learning environment. I would really be interested in seeing what suggestions ITTT has for cultivating such an environment for a variety of ages. In my experience thus far, elementary, adults, and high school students are more apt to speaking activities, while middle school students are often shy and difficult to get engaged in speaking activities.
