This unit was very difficult because I was very unfamiliar with the phonetic alphabet. This chapter made me realize how important it is to take time to teach students proper pronunciation. I think when I am doing lessons I will try to incorporate pronunciation as I see necessary with new vocabulary and concepts. Knowing when to stress certain vowels or syllables of words is also important so the listener can understand what the intention of the speaker is. Stressing particular words of the sentence also indicates the tone and feeling. One should be able to recognize whether or not the respond to the statement or simply listen.
