This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This module described how to teach new language concepts by using different techniques as described under the Engage, Study and Activate pattern. The engage phase could be showing students pictures of different objects for example then giving them a gap fill exercise for the Study phase, followed by a practical task in the Activate stage which may involve working in groups or pairs. This ESA structure can be carried out in a number of ways with some stages being repeated over the course of the lesson, with different activities. This has been covered in a previous unit so it was god to get a refresher on this and it gave me ideas of how to structure a lesson. The module also described what items should be considered when choosing what vocabulary to teach, such as frequency of use and teachability.
