Unit 6 covered Past Tenses. Again there are four forms, the past simple, the past continuous, the past perfect and the past perfect continuous. The past simple refers to past actions when when the time is given or when the action took place at definite time though not mentioned. As in The sale ended last week and We sold or home several years ago.
The past continuous refers to interrupted past actions and an action that began before that time and probably continued. As in while I was napping the door bell rang and At ten she was driving to the beach.
The past perfect refers to the, past in the past, or the past seen from another past view point. He told me he had biked across Europe.
The past perfect continuous refers to actions in the past that had been going on up to the past moment we're talking about. As in Before going to the gym, he had been napping for two hours.
