This unit contained methods for teaching receptive skills, reading and listening. The unit covered how we read and listen, giving particular importance to how we relate what we are reading or listening to it's context which I found both obvious and enlightening at the same time. The unit also included how to properly structure a lesson around enhancing reading and listening skills including how to properly select material and what tasks should go with that material. I believe the most important technique that I learned was pre-teaching vocabulary or structures that may be difficult to the student's ability level with the caveat that only essential items be pre-taught.
