Unit 12 covers the teaching of Productive Skills which includes speaking and writing. It covers the basic motivations for speaking and writing which include having a need or purpose to communicate a need or desire. Keeping this in mind, it is important for the teacher to find reading and writing subjects which their students will find interesting and useful. Once they have chosen such material the teacher can engage the students, review and study the material with the students and then instruct the students to apply what they have learned in the activate stage using games, role playing and story creation to name just a few.
