This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Here we learned about all the different types of tests that are used throughout the course. Usually starting with the placement and/or diagnostic tests, which allow you to know what level the students are at, where they should be placed, what they need to learn, how to structure the lessons etc these tests are probably more beneficial to the teacher then the student. The progress and practice tests would help the student more, as it will allow them to see how they are doing and what they need to focus on, also what they have retained or not. Having regular tests also means the students will be revising more, which gives them more exposure to the language. But as with any teaching component, you have to be aware of your students, as some do not respond well to testing, and therefore other ways of marking progress need to be used along with formal testing.
