There was a lot of information to digest in this unit of study. It was interesting to review some of the common methods and theories for learning a foreign language. After reviewing these methodologies, I reflected upon my own experiences as an L2 student trying to learn Spanish. Over the years, I have taken short courses in Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Ecuador. I have experienced some of the older methods like Audio-lingualism and PPP. My most recent experience was at a private university in Colombia where instructors used the ESA method. As a student, being taught using the ESA method was by far the most effective and enjoyable. Also, in this unit, I am very appreciative of the activity suggestions. I know I will look back on my notes and use this information as I plan for lessons.
