This unit focused on Past tense grammar. For most L2 learners using past tense is challenging. This unit broke down the differences in the ways we use and understand the different forms. As a native speaker, I automatically know what to use because I have tuned my ears to know what sounds right. However, for an L2 speaker this part of the grammar has to be memorized. As a teacher according to this unit, I can employ lots of different activities that would ensure that the students are practicing the different types of grammar in fun and interesting ways. In doing this unit as an L1 speaker it was challenging to recall all the different reasons why we use the different forms of the past tense. In conclusion, in learning this unit I was able to see even a little how challenging it is and this helps me understand a little of what my students feel; so that I can use it to help them in the future.
