This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
The unit gave insight on the structure of the past tenses. I learned how to form the past tense, and when we use a past tense. The unit also taught me about common student mistakes, and gave some practical teaching ideas.
Since there are many similarities between the present and past tenses. The past continuous: 'I was cooing' and the present continuous: 'I am cooking', both use the auxiliary verb ' to be' + 'verb+ing'. If 'to be' is in the past (was/were), we are using the past continuous, and if 'to be' is in present (am/are) we are using the present continuous.
This unit refreshed my knowledge about the past tenses, as well as the present tenses. I am able to teach my students the differences in usages and structures, and I can come up with activities to check if they understood the lesson's content.
