This unit was very fascinating to read about and learn from. The English language is equally interesting and frustrating due to its lack of rules, but the ability to use phonemes to learn how to pronounce words is a very helpful tool. Intonation is also very important to use: not only is it necessary for students to learn where stresses are within words and sentences, but it's useful for a teacher to be aware of how they are speaking when presenting information to a class. In the English language, changing the stress from one word to another in a sentence can completely alter the meaning of the sentence and it's important to know how those implications can change.
