This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 18, Modals, phrasal verbs and passive voice has provided me with an outline for understanding what modal verbs are, how to use them and when to use them grammatically in the English language to express different ideas and actions (degrees of formality, obligation, advice, ability, permission, possibility, etc). I learned that the passive voice is most frequently used in English when it is not known or it is not important to know who performs the action in the sentence and how to construct such a sentence correctly. The unit also covered the three types of clauses used in the English language and where transitive and intransitive phrasal verbs are placed grammatically in a sentence. I found the teaching ideas (situational role plays and word games suggestions) to be helpful and something new I learned that I can use as a point of reference as a create lesson plans to teach these grammatical structures (modal auxiliary verbs, passive voice and transitive/intransitive verbs) to my EFL learners in the classroom.
