This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 14 covered the variety and use of different course materials and books. The two types of materials are authentic (items a native speaker would encounter) and created (designed by the teacher for the course). There are drawbacks and benefits to both and good teachers use both, in addition to any course books, to supplement learning and to tailor lessons to the class. A variety of other sample materials and resources for creating my own made me excited to get creative with these elements when the time comes in my class. The last topic presented was the selection of course books and an analysis of their advantages and disadvantages. Should I have an opportunity to choose these materials one day, I think this will be a helpful guideline.
