The section tells us about how we read. By predicting what the content of an article will be based on it's title; scanning text for a specific piece of information; skimming the whole article quickly for a simple understanding of the content; detailed reading to absorb all the content of an article; deduction to tell what a phrase or word means in the context, such as a no smoking sign.
A large key to a successful receptive skill lesson is selecting interesting and level relevant material for the students. Pop icons or cultural events can be used to help make students enthusiastic about the reading or listening exercises.
