This unit cover the importance of receptive skills in the classroom. Receptive skills are made up of reading and listening. Reasons for reading and listening would be for entertainment or for a specific purpose and there are five separate \"how\" methods in doing them, consisting of predictive skills, scanning, skimming, detailed information, and deduction from context. The unit also discusses the problems that come with reading and listening, reasons for choosing topics, creating interest and its importance, and comprehensive tasks. After the information is reviewed, examples of receptive skills lesson plans are provided, followed by several interesting worksheet activities that would generally be utilized in a typical English classroom.
