When it does to teaching language, especially new vocabulary, there is no one right way. A good teacher will assess the class (and individual class members) to determine their skill level and will introduce new vocabulary that fits. Using the ESA (Engage, Study, Activate) style of delivering lessons makes the classroom and teaching experience more fluid, whether used in a straight arrow, boomerang, or patchwork mode. Introducing batches of vocabulary with words that relate to each other puts the words and concepts into context and helps the learning process, yet it is also crucial to teach a balance lesson so that the students can understand all aspects of the language in contact with each piece.
