Applied phonetics is often overlooked and difficult to teach. But, for those teachers that have had prior experience with applied phonetics, for example it was a part of a foreign language that the teacher learned, then it can be a boon for those students that may wish to perfect their pronunciation. Perhaps teaching applied phonetics as dedicated lessons early on in a student's acquisition of a foreign language isn't the best idea, but it can be introduced as needed from time to time within normal lessons. A teacher that understands and can teach applied phonetics will not only save time and energy, but it will greatly improve the overall learning of the students.
