This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was pretty simple. It was about everything a good teacher needs to consider regarding coursebooks and other materials. It mentions authentic and created materials, as well as the differences between them, then provides some examples and sources one can use to make more. The last part was about choosing a coursebook.
I think the most important thing to remember from this chapter is the reminder to not get lazy. Teachers can get into a routine of doing one chapter after another. Some textbooks make an effort to keep things fresh, so that's often okay, but other textbooks are precisely organized, with each unit structured the exact same way. While that can sometimes make things easier to understand, it also makes the textbook boring, so it's important to provide other activities or materials when using those kinds of textbooks.
