This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
There are four aspects of the past tense. The affirmative form of the simple past tense uses a conjugated verb, usually formed by adding \"ed\" to the end of a verb, although there are some irregular verbs such as \"run\" or \"buy\" which use a different form. The past simple describes actions which are finished and happened at a certain point in time. It may also be used in conjunction with other past tense for narrative purposes.
The past continuous form uses the auxiliary verb \"was\" or \"were\" and then the present participle form of the verb to indicate actions in progress at a certain time. It can also be used to describe slowly changing or developing states or for narrative purposes or descriptions.
The past perfect and past perfect continuous forms are some of the rarest used tenses, especially in terms of spoken English. These tense are used to relate actions that took place in the past. Past perfect uses the auxiliary verb \"had\" or \"have\" and then the past participle to describe an action that finished before another point in time in the past. Past perfect continuous adds the auxiliary verb \"been\" and uses the present participle of a verb to describe actions that may or may not have continued after a certain point. For example, \"I had been laying in bed for ten minutes when my phone rang,\" uses this tense.
