I have always wondered at the advantages or disadvantages of using a textbook over real-life materials. This section provided many ways that both can be utilized in harmony with each other while planning lessons. Created materials evoke creativity and input from teachers, and authentic materials can help provide students with a better understanding as they interact with real objects. These methods are two dynamic ways to add interest to an activity, along with using the textbook as a guide. Textbooks give a tried-and-true outline for learning objectives and templates for activities. This will be a great help to me, especially in my first years as a TEFL teacher.
