Before I read this section, I always thought evaluating students was to prepare them for an exam or for a college entrance exam. As a young student, I was constantly given exams to see if I would pass a certain required State test. I always hated that evaluation progress. It made me feel unintelligent. But after reading the whole section, it makes better sense in evaluating students as the course progress. These various exams or tests outlined in the section are necessary to see how your students are progressing; and more importantly, how you, as the teacher, are doing or not doing to make sure the students are learning. In sum, I am totally in favor of evaluating students especially if the student is planning on taking the TOEFL Exam which I think it is an important exam if the student wants to study in the USA.
