This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Another brief but important lesson. Again, I'm not exactly sure what to say. I understand the need for teachers and companies to have the need for standardized assessment tests. Standardized methods for assessing skill level are a common way to handle the masses, but I would agree with most teachers that observational assessment is the best. It feels more natural and can be customized for each student. But I don't mean standardized tests are entirely bad. Some people prefer private or self study lessons before tackling human to human interactions, due to personal preferences or time.As it is generally common that the abilities of human beings differ from one person to another so it is imperative to ensure that the whole class is progressing at the same time.Ascertaining the progress of learning time and again should prevail in a learning environment for the teacher to know and cover the students gaps before progressing to the next topic. As a teacher the unit helps us to know the possible causes of students not progressing at the same pace it could be lack of confidence, shy to participate or fear of failing so it is up to us as teacher to eradicate all those obstacles.
