The unit presents information concerning productive skills teaching. As a rule of thumb, it is quite difficult to teach writing since teachers usually tend to avoid long and completely silent phases at the lessons. However, whriting is of a paramount importance when i comes to developing accuracy, creativity, out-of-box thinking and as a result motivation to learn the language. In terms of communicative approach, speaking is the most important skill to be taught but it seems that writing should come first just because through writing students can also improve their speaking and reading skills.Teaching receptive skills-reading and listening- is not a black and white skillset. It requires a why and wherefore. Are we reading and listening for a specified purpose, for pleasure as in scrolling up and down on FaceBook, listening to music,or reading a novel? There are pitfalls involved. The language and vocabulary involved and tasks required may be above the learner's level.Topics that interest all learners must be classroom material and again shouldn't be too easy or to difficult. At all times the teacher should remember our goal is to focus on reading and listening and to stay on topic.
