In this unit, I learned about using course materials in class. I learned that there are mixed feelings about using set course books, with some teachers loving them and others despising them. I learned that teachers can also make use of authentic materials, such as newspaper articles and interviews. Teachers can also create their own materials, or adapt the course materials to suit the needs of the student. I learned how to analyse a textbook, in order to decide whether I should set it for the class or not. I learned that course books have their advantages and drawbacks, and that it is up to the teacher to decide whether they want to use it or not.
