This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
When we report conditionals and statements that refer to unreal situations, some tenses and modals may change if the reported words are no longer true or are out-of-date. In zero conditional sentences, the tense in both parts of the sentence is the simple present. In first conditional we are talking about the future. We are thinking about a particular condition or situation in the future, and the result of this condition. There is a real possibility that this condition will happen. The Second Conditional is used to talk about 'impossible' situations. With the third conditional we talk about the past. We talk about a condition in the past that did not happen. That is why there is no possibility for this condition. The third conditional is also like a dream, but with no possibility of the dream coming true. Sometimes Unreal Conditional sentences are mixed. This means that the time in the if-clause is not the same as the time in the result.
