Unit 14 covered course books and lesson materials. Some teachers like using course books, where as others do not. There are several ways to make the classroom fun and interesting. I learned the difference between authentic materials and creative materials. Authentic materials consist of anything you hear or read, such as programs, newspapers, songs, etc. They are real and much more motivating, which leads to students being more confident. Creative materials are usually designed by the teacher, and can be quite creative. These materials consist of crosswords, word search puzzles, or even role-play cards. I found the examples in this unit to be very helpful in terms of teaching, because it gave me an insight of how to be able to teach with different books and how important it is to choose the right book for the level of teaching.
