Reading and listening are receptive skills. There are variations of each, purpose and entertainment. Sometimes they will be used in conjunction with each other. There are a number of ways we do each. Some examples being looking for detailed information, just to get the gist of something,and to find out an outcome of something. There maybe some difficulties with teaching receptive skills. Using unfamiliar words when speaking the listener has no time to decipher what they are hearing, if written they can go over and over until it becomes clear. So you have to carefully select text that is being taught. Use suitable material so you can keep the interest of everyone and keep the material varied. We have to use tasks that promote understanding. These tasks should be a little challenging.
