When teaching language acquisition there are 2 categories and 4 subcategories: receptive skills 1) listening and 2) reading and reproductive skills 1) speaking and 2} writing. This unit focused on the receptive skills. There are two basic reasons someone listens or reads 1) information, 2) entertainment. There are 5 intelligence skills we employ when listening or reading 1) predictive skills 2) scanning 3) detailed information 4) skimming and deduction from content. All these things need to be considered when teaching receptive skills.i feel like when teaching this chapter, it might get confusing to learners of english especially since all the tenses such as present simple, present continuous, past perfect etc. comes into play and apart from having to know what changes to what from direct to reported speech, they also need to be able to identify what tense the words are which can be the difficult part as it can even confuse speakers of english. thus i think that before doing this chapter, it is crucial that students are familiar with tenses so as not to confuse them
