This unit disinguished between created and authentic materials, and this unit also covered the effective selection and appropriate use of materials. To date, I have rarely, if ever, used authentic materials (with the exception of music) in my own teaching. I look forward to using authentic materials in future lessons; however, I have yet to develop a means to do this since, given my students' level, common authentic materials which would be comprehensible may be difficult to find.Course books have a lot of advantages and also disadvantages. But it can be a support and at the same time it can turn the teacher a bit lazy. You can adapt yourself to the lesson and the students.Teaching without a coursebook won't please everyone all of the time and can create a lot of extra work, but in terms of your own teacher development and as a way of keeping your classes fresh and interesting for your students, I would definitely recommend giving it a try from time to time.
