This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This Unit covers another part of instructing English as a foreign language. Receptive skills - reading and listening. From my point of view they are extremely important together with productive skills - speaking and writing. From this perspective I find this unit interesting. It includes the types of reading contexts, problems while listening, language level, the importance of pre-teaching, text, task and topic selection. It finishes with some handy exercise materials at the end. From this unit, I learnt how to teach 2 productive skills: speaking and writing. For the speaking part, there are accuracy (producing correct languages) and fluency(be creative with languages) activities. Speaking activities could be controlled activities(accuracy based), guided activities(accuracy based) and creative communication(fluency based).Writing skills always be neglected, but is still important, we should focus on handwriting, spelling, punctuation and creative writing.
