This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit focused on the productive skills of language learning which are reading and speaking. This lesson delved into the basics of communicative purpose and the difference between accuracy and fluency activities. Accuracy activities, like drilling, are designed to help the students understand and use the language in a controlled way. Fluency exercises, like guided role-play, allow more creativity in language usage. Interaction is important for these skills to be learned therefore pair-work and group-work are ideal from my standpoint. These two films showed two completely different teaching styles, with the first being the worst one. In the first one, there was no rapport established, he kept his back to the students writing on the board most of the time, and he made students feel \"stupid\" by saying they should know concepts because they were easy. The second film helps build the students up as they navigated through the lesson. They were more receptive to participating and learning because the instructor was encouraging and had a good attitude toward the students.
