There are many different kinds of methods to teach language. Each method has their positive and negative elements. ESA (Engage, Study, Activate) is the combination of various methods in one. During the Engage phase of the lesson, the objective is to break the ice with the students in order to get them talking and comfortable. The Study Section follows; it consists of worksheets and the expansion of concepts. Finally, the Activate phase is the implementation of the new concepts worked out.This unit discussed course books and lesson materials. It primarily helped the teacher think about the advantages and disadvantages of using a course book and how they can best use one in the classroom. It makes sense for a teacher to have a coursebook, but at the same he should make the appropriate changes in order to maximize both its benefit and the time in the classroom. The unit also provided some coursebook options and some helpful examples of role play cards and other materials.
