This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit seven focuses on ESA methods to teach new vocabulary, grammatical structures and language functions. Through this unit I have learned how to introduce new language to students in a balanced way. Furthermore this unit provided me with examples of activities for different stage of ESA that help students to understand/practise/produce new language. In addition I have also learned how to apply appropriately various ESA approaches including ?straight arrow?, ?boomerang? and ?patch work? according to the target of the lesson.I found this unit to be similar to the present tense unit and i noticed a lot of the same rules applied to the past tense as well. It is very important that the teachers convey the special rules and examples for this unit to the students in a very clear and efficient manner. I find this unit to be difficult to explain for the lower level ESL students as one has to be good at a language to be able to underestand the rules of it. For the time being i find language drills as an efficient way to get the students familiarized with the tenses.
