This unit talks about different teaching themes with the aim to apply them to a range of contexts and situations. Their presentation is accompanied by lesson examples in order to show the use of the actual methodology.Students learn about the use of case studies, frameworking, problem based learning, games, computer aided language learning and speech act theory. I found particularly interesting the units of case studies and frameworking and the examples of lessons which provide a very good insight into the teaching components of a lesson.Unit 20 listed some of the common problems teachers will encounter in a TESOL classroom and offered some solutions and techniques for handling them. Some examples would be situations of large classes, different levels within a class, or the first lesson a teacher gives. Most of these issues can be overcome if the teacher is prepared and thinks things through carefully. For instance, being intentional about carefully helping reluctant students engage can help to avoid the dilemma of them feeling too pressured or overwhelmed to participate.
